Our services
The people of God have always gathered as a community, to celebrate the goodness of God, to be instructed from his Word, and to pray to God to meet their needs. Three congregations make up the core of St John's:
- 8am: Our early Sunday morning service is a clear strong traditional Prayer Book (AAPB) service. Communion is celebrated every week, with robes, candles and colours, and hymns sung from our historic pipe organ.
- 10am: Our family service combines the best of the classical style with the best of contemporary. Structured, but not formal, with full kids program and the Lord’s supper monthly, the focus is on both the spiritual substance of what we do together, and also a strong attention to the outsider and newcomer.
- 7pm: Vibrant music, passionate people and powerful biblical talks are the defining features of our evening congregation. Sunday nights at St John’s are a powerful experience!
'Turning point' services: At key moments – baptisms, weddings, funerals - the spiritual reality of our lives is startlingly evident. At these times, it is important to gather with others and before God to seek his blessing. St John’s is committed to serving both the church and the community in providing sensitive and spiritually powerful ‘turning point’ services.
