Jesus was not joking when he said that the kingdom of God belonged to such as these, pointing at the kids. At St John's, we love our kids, and we love our Sunday School program, called 'Kids' church'. It's a key part of our life together, working alongside parents to ensure that their children 'increase in wisdom and in stature, and in divine and human favour'. 'Kids' church' is based at the 10am service.
Dedicated 'Kids' church' staff teach our children about the Lord Jesus Christ and his love and sacrifice for them. The teaching is not in word only – Christian values are lived out and reinforced in the moment to moment interactions between the kids, which means that the experience of Christian community is a very holistic one.
And they love it! It’s quite common to hear parents say that for one reason or another, they might have to miss church one week – and the kids are outraged! 'Kids' church' quickly becomes a highlight for them.
